”Simplicity is the only sophistication.” The quote comes from Leonardo da Vinci and is a very important principle that Creator strives after. It is achieving the simple solutions that are the greatest challenges, and they are challenges that Creator gladly accepts – anything to achieve the best relationship between function, production, product life expectancy and price. We do our absolute best to meet our customer’s requirements regarding design, functionality, and method of manufacture – all with the cost estimate in mind.
Our designers are used to working with engineers and manufacturers with different areas of expertise. This leads to feasible and competitive products. We take responsibility from idea to finished product.
A close cooperation between our prototype workshop and mechanical design department enables us to verify a function in a design at an early stage. This means that the design phase can progress quickly using a functional groundwork for manufacturing.
”Close vicinity to the workshop and the cooperation with the prototype technicians is what facilitates thorough, smooth and time-efficient mechanical design,” says Robin Sundberg, one of Creator’s 20 mechanical designers.
Creator has many years of experience in mechanical design and was a pioneer in incorporating industrial design as a natural aspect in the product development process. A clear communication between the prototype workshop and design team often results in an early verification of function in a design.
Creator’s mechanical design department consists of just over 20 mechanical designers. They are divided into smaller teams to provide the correct expertise in a specific project. When complex projects require additional expertise or a new angle of approach, then further members of the design force can congregate for brainstorming. Flexibility and creativity in mechanical development are one of Creator’s strengths.
One discipline that Creator has long been engaged in is tool-related design. Even if the production phase is physically implemented at the end of the development process, methods of production must be decided and mapped out early on. Knowledge in how tool-based technology and its properties and limitations are kept in mind in every mechanical design aspect, thus avoiding many disappointing hours of backtracking. That knowledge is a valued, cost-effective advantage for our customers.
Possessing theoretical knowledge is important, but may not be sufficient to achieve a product of “sophisticated simplicity.” It is utilizing the experience gained from similar products or challenges that is crucial in achieving a successfully simple mechanical design.
Creator has many years of experience in designing a variety of complex plastic products. Our customers value our expertise and often choose to involve us in the design process from start to production. This has provided our company with a firm knowledge and experience bank to draw from.
To be a mechanical designer at Creator is to be an innovator. Creator’s mechanical design efforts often lead to patented technology.
”Being a part of creating a patented design is very gratifying and quite the accomplishment for a designer,” says Mechanical Designer Robin Sundberg.
Located near the Creator head office, the prototype workshop is an important link to the mechanical development process.
”Close proximity to the workshop is practical when testing solidified ideas in a controlled setting,” says Mechanical Designer Agne Svedberg.”Without our prototype technicians, product development would take considerably longer.”
Creator has solved many tricky and seemingly unsolvable mechanical issues for their customers since 1982, where the acquisitions of over 30 patents are among the fruits of these labors.
