Workshops, hospitals and industrial kitchens require extra robust equipment that can stand up to harsh treatment and long-term wear. This is why SCA has chosen to develop a series of paper dispensers that can endure use in even the toughest environments. Creator developed the successful Tork Elevation paper dispenser series for public washrooms and SCA demonstrated continued confidence in Creator’s competence. Creator gladly accepted the next assignment - to develop SCA’s Performance series.
The series was to include wall hangers and floor stands for large paper rolls, dispensers for center-feeding paper as well as folded paper/synthetic tissue paper.
SCA was clear about their requirements – their paper dispensers were to be robust and esthetically appealing. They must be able to withstand harsh use in workshops and hospitals, and at the same time, become a natural part of the workplace environment.
This project challenged our creativity,” says Christian Söderlund, engineer at Creator and project manager for the Performance series. “It is difficult to combine robustness, functionality and design into one product, since these qualities are usually fairly incompatible. Characteristics that represent durability often mar beauty.”
Creator knew from the start that smoothly flowing processes with Chinese, German and Hungarian suppliers were a necessity, since tool production and product manufacturing are located in those countries. The manufacturers also received a complete understanding as to the high quality that SCA expects.
In order to achieve the customer’s demanding requirements, the product design and functionality were developed in close cooperation with SCA. Prototypes were created for thorough testing, verification and evaluation at Creator’s workshop. Creator’s workshop technicians simulated the realistic wear and tear that these products can be expected to withstand in their anticipated environments, and more.
”The prototypes endured a hard existence at the prototype workshop, where they suffered all kinds of abuse and exhaustive tests,” says Christian Söderlund. “Some of the prototypes sacrificed their short existence to the developmental cause, where their destruction resulted in the birth of new ideas that improved further project process.”
”Creative design, a well-functioning cooperation with SCA and a thorough evaluation of suitable materials were important aspects in the process,” says Christian.
The Performance series was introduced on the market in March this year, achieving successful global sales since. Much of this project flowed smoothly thanks to a good communication between Creator, SCA and the involved Chinese, German and Hungarian companies. Creator’s innovative capabilities and wide contact manufacturing network can guarantee first-class solutions and a smooth developmental process.
The Performance series radiates both a sense of elegance and stability. Manufactured in two color-schemes, the more “hearty” red/black has been designed for workshops and other industries, while the more “mild” turquoise/white was designed for kitchen and hospital environments.”We know the expectations that SCA has for their products. We were able to meet these requirements, thanks to our creative designers and broad experience in design in plastics. The Performance dispensers are esthetically pleasing, functional and robust. Field tests performed on these products have received top ratings,” says Christian Söderlund.
